Change DNS records at Fasthosts

Where the DNS settings live

  1. Sign in to the Fasthosts control panel.
  2. Open Domains, click the domain, then DNS Settings / Advanced DNS.

Adding a record

  1. Click Add new record, choose the type, fill in host and value, then save.

Editing or deleting a record

  1. Use the edit icon on the row; the bin removes the record.

Changing the nameservers

  1. Open the domain and choose Change nameservers → Use custom nameservers.

Gotchas at Fasthosts

  • Fasthosts hosting packages auto-manage some records; detach the package to take full control.

After you save

DNS changes aren't instant. Resolvers keep the old answer until the previous record's TTL expires, so a record with a 4-hour TTL can take 4 hours to change everywhere. Use the Route Planner's live check to see what the world sees, and the troubleshooting page if it still looks wrong after the TTL has passed.
