How to change DNS records at OVHcloud
European cloud provider, host and registrar.
Where the DNS settings live
- Sign in to the OVHcloud Control Panel and open Web Cloud.
- Click Domain names, select the domain, then the DNS zone tab.
Adding a record
- Click Add an entry.
- Pick the record type, enter the subdomain (blank for the root) and the target.
- Click Next, then Confirm.
Editing or deleting a record
- Use the three-dot menu on the row → Modify entry or Delete entry.
Changing the nameservers
- On the domain's General information tab, use the DNS servers section to switch to external nameservers.
OVHcloud nameservers
These are the values you would set at your registrar to let OVHcloud run your DNS. Always confirm them in your own account — several providers assign per-account values.
dns__.ovh.net and ns__.ovh.net (assigned per domain)
Gotchas at OVHcloud
- OVH assigns per-domain nameservers — check the exact pair for your domain.
- The DNS zone tab is only editable while OVH nameservers are in use.
After you save
DNS changes are not instant. Resolvers keep the old answer until the previous record's TTL expires, so a record with a 4-hour TTL can take 4 hours to change everywhere — occasionally longer if an ISP ignores TTLs. Check what the world currently sees before assuming something is broken, and see the troubleshooting page if it still looks wrong after the TTL has passed.
