Where the DNS settings live
- Log in to Plesk (often
yourdomain.com:8443). - Open Websites & Domains and select the domain.
- Click DNS Settings.
Adding a record
- Click Add Record.
- Choose the record type, enter the host and value.
- Click OK, then click Update / Apply at the top — Plesk queues changes until you apply them.
Editing or deleting a record
- Click the record host name to open it, change the value, and click OK.
- Tick the record and click Remove to delete.
- Always click Update afterwards.
Changing the nameservers
- Change nameservers at the registrar. Plesk only serves the zone if it is the authoritative nameserver.
Gotchas at Plesk (generic)
- The pending-changes banner is easy to miss — unapplied edits do nothing.
- Plesk may be running as a slave DNS server, in which case the zone is read-only.
After you save
DNS changes aren't instant. Resolvers keep the old answer until the previous record's TTL expires, so a record with a 4-hour TTL can take 4 hours to change everywhere. Use the Route Planner's live check to see what the world sees, and the troubleshooting page if it still looks wrong after the TTL has passed.
