Where the DNS settings live
- Sign in and open My Account → Domains.
- Click the domain, then Advanced Technical Settings / Manage DNS.
Adding a record
- Choose the record type, click Edit, add a row, and save.
Editing or deleting a record
- Edit the row in the type block and save the section.
Changing the nameservers
- Under the domain, open Nameservers and switch to custom servers.
Gotchas at Register.com
- The panel behaves much like Network Solutions, including the multi-step save.
After you save
DNS changes aren't instant. Resolvers keep the old answer until the previous record's TTL expires, so a record with a 4-hour TTL can take 4 hours to change everywhere. Use the Route Planner's live check to see what the world sees, and the troubleshooting page if it still looks wrong after the TTL has passed.
