Change DNS records at SiteGround

Performance-focused shared host with a custom Site Tools panel.

Where the DNS settings live

  1. Sign in and open Websites, then Site Tools for the site.
  2. In the sidebar go to Domain → DNS Zone Editor.

Adding a record

  1. Pick the record type tab (A, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV).
  2. Enter the name and value in the form at the top.
  3. Click Create.

Editing or deleting a record

  1. Use the three-dot menu on the record row → Edit or Delete.

Changing the nameservers

  1. Nameservers are changed at whoever registers the domain, not in Site Tools.
  2. If SiteGround is the registrar, open Services → Domains → manage → Name Servers.

Gotchas at SiteGround

  • The DNS Zone Editor only applies when the domain points at SiteGround nameservers.
  • SiteGround assigns account-specific nameservers — copy them from Site Tools rather than guessing.

After you save

DNS changes aren't instant. Resolvers keep the old answer until the previous record's TTL expires, so a record with a 4-hour TTL can take 4 hours to change everywhere. Use the Route Planner's live check to see what the world sees, and the troubleshooting page if it still looks wrong after the TTL has passed.
